The history of Sister Princess can be traced
back to March 1999, when it first appeared in the monthly bishoujo
magazine Dengeki G's. There were only nine sisters then (not 12);
readers got to vote for their most favourite, and following tremendous
response from the fans, the magazine decided to serialise Sister
Princess.
In March 2000, a decision was made to renew the series, this time
by featuring the short letters that the girls wrote to their beloved
brother. Another three sisters were also added to the family-Haruka,
Yotsuba, and Aria.
On Mar 8, 2001, the game version of Sister Princess (about the brother
spending a month with all 12 sisters, and featuring original artwork
by Tenhiro Naoto) was released on the Sony PlayStation. Priced at
6800yen (9800yen for the limited edition), the game was the third
best-selling title in Japan (based on Famitsu magazine) in its first
week of release. The TV-anime series also followed a month later
(Apr 4, 2001).
In July 2001, a new series of stories began in Dengeki G's, right
up till April 2002. While the magazine was preparing for yet another
renewal of the Sister Princess stories for its May 2002 issue, the
'premium edition' of the Sister Princess games (the original plus
two other Christmas and Valentine 'side stories') was released for
the Dreamcast on Mar 28, 2002.

The heroine of the series, the piano-playing
Karen is gentle, sweet and lovable. And not to mention, she
loves her brother very, very much.

Rinrin's the brainy mechanic and computer-whiz
among the 12 sisters, but she seems to spend too much on her

of the time... Of late, she's been busy with a robot replica
of herself.

Hinako's the smallest among the 12 sisters.
Usually alone and always longing for her brother to play with
her, she behaves much like a child and expresses her love
for him in a similar fashion.

Brimming with confidence, Sakuya behaves like
a grown-up and isn't shy of expressing more than sisterly
love in her letters to her brother. She wants her brother

The active and sports-loving Mamoru likes
to do sports together with her brother. Particularly good
with board-related sports.

and refined in her kimono, but is often too keen to protect
her brother from harmless and unsuspecting strangers. She's
one of three new characters created in 2000.

Yotsuba comes from England and likes to call
herself a detective. Chirpy and cheerful, Yotsuba wants to

as a 'ninja sister'.

Cool and mysterious (and sometimes spooky
^^), Chikage's very much into the occult and magic. It's almost

she's also physically weak, but her love for her brother and
the desire to be with him gives her her inner-strength.

Aria, who comes from France, is a timid and
soft-spoken girl who quickly breaks into tears whenever she
